Argentiere
There are several ski stations in the Chamonix region which is well renowned as one of the key ski resorts in France. Getting around the area is not always easy and a car is useful here to make the most of the mountains, which are home to some of the world's best off-piste skiing. It is not a place for the faint hearted! As you would expect, for a resort dominated by the mighty Mont Blanc, the scenery is impressive and the skiing and snowboarding is extreme!
Argentiere -
A picturesque 14th century village with an informal atmosphere and home of the Grand Montets, this is widely regarded as the most challenging of all the ski areas. There is little in the way of pistes here and most are fairly steep, even the blues! The serious stuff is the powder and off piste slopes accessed from the top of the cable car at over 3000m. The snow is usually in good condition until late April and should keep a smile on the face of most experts. For the less experienced skier or snowboarding who is wanting to learn how to ski then the nearby Le Tour provides a more gentle experience. For those move confident skiers who already know how to ski, then this resort will push them to their limits. To get a better idea of the pistes in the Argentiere Ski Resort, then check out or Ski Map of the pistes.

The Argentiere ski resort is a fairly relaxed resort. There are a few bars and a disco offering evening entertainment, whilst there are also a number of good restaurants. Those who wish for livelier evenings can make the short journey to Chamonix. The ski resort of Argentiere is found a short distance away from the Chamonix Ski resort, with both resorts found in the same ski area. As Argentiere has a smaller village than the nearby resort of Chamonix, so most people who are on their ski holiday in Argentiere utilise the free bus service and head to the Chamonix village.

The nightlife in the Argentiere resort is fairly uninspiring. Whilst there are a number of bars which feature music, alongside a disco, this resort is not one for a wild night out. If you are looking to do a bit of shopping whilst on your ski holiday, then it would be recommended that you jump on the free bus to the Chamonix resort, where there is a wider range of shops. In terms of places to eat, Argentiere has a number of restaurants and cafes.

In the Argentiere ski resort there are two ski schools and a crèche for children from three years. We would recommend that you learn to ski with ESF. An Argentiere ski holiday provides good snow conditions and a varied terrain, perfect for learning on.
