Meribel

Located in the 3 Valleys, Meribel ski holidays are great for people who like to ski hard and play hard. As the middle valley of the famous Three Valleys ski area, which includes 600km of pistes, this is probably one of the best resorts in the world for clocking up the kilometres whilst enjoying an everchanging scenery whilst skiing or snowboarding. Meribel is not your resort if you're after some traditional French atmosphere, although it has managed to avoid the unattractive architecture associated with some ski resorts. Mottaret is slightly smaller and only 5km away. The two sites are easily connected by the free bus service.

Meribel -

The Meribel Valley Ski Area alone covers around 150km with some of the prettiest views and plenty of chairlifts in the sun! Beginners can enjoy the Altiport area but are more catered for in Mottaret, with there being a piste dedicated to beginners. A ski lift pass for just the Meribel Valley ski area would be most suitable for beginner skiers or snowboarders. There is plenty on offer for intermediates and experts can choose between moghuls, powder, vertical drops and snow parks - it is hard not to be impressed. The more challenging terrain is at Mont de la Chambre at the head of the valley. The speed and efficiency of the lift system is second to none in the 3 Valleys, and ski tows are generally optional. Purchasing a 3 Valleys Ski Lift Pass would be recommended for skiers and snowboarders of intermediate or advanced ability. The Mottaret ski resort, at just over a mile up the valley, is located in a central position in the Three Valleys ski area, meaning that skiers and snowboarders can access the Val Thorens ski resort, amongst others, with relative ease.

Meribel -

The nightlift in the Meribel ski resort is up there with the best in the 3 valleys, making it an ideal location for a ski holiday for young people or those looking for a fun time. Live music features heavily here and some of the best parties start in the Rond Point around 4pm and continue until dinnertime! Later on there are many bars to choose from including the famous" Dick's Tea Bar". There is plenty of variety for eating out - from fast food to Michelin star restaurants. Leisure facilities include a cinema and a large leisure centre with pool, fitness, sauna, bowling and climbing wall. The heart of the resort is Meribel 1450 with most the shops and restaurants and a bi-weekly street market. Confusingly, Meribel Village is not the main village but actually a 2km drive away from 1450 and is linked into the ski area.

Meribel -

There are plenty of activities in the Meribel and Mottaret resorts if you need a break from skiing or snowboarding. You can try dog sledding, ice driving, indoor climbing, walking, paragliding and more.
