Berwang - Ski
This small attractive village is situated close to the German border in the Tyrol area of north western Austria. Berwang provides an excellent beginner and early intermediate ski area. The more advanced skier will also be satisfied, as Berwang is part of two larger areas which straddle the German border and include the high glacier skiing of the Zugspitz mountain, Germany's highest peak. Snow is guaranteed due to extensive snowmaking equipment. Furthermore, Berwang is a very family-friendly resort. For snowboarders, there is a terrain park and half pipe set apart from the rest of the slopes. It is accessed by the Honiglift drag lift and a bus will take you to this park in just a few minutes.
Berwang - Resort
Although the nightlife in Berwang isn't the livliest, the town does have half a dozen après ski bars as well as many cozy restaurants. You should go to the Fliegerbar in the Hotel Edelweiss and the Wetterschicht, a bar which doubles up as an internet café! If you would like to go out for dinner, you must try the traditional Tyrolean mountain dishes. Some of the better venues are within the Kaiserhof, Edelweiss and Singer in Berwang village.
Just 30 minutes from the Singer Hotel, you can find the beautiful castles of Neuschwanstein and Hoschwanstein.
Activities
In the larger hotels you can find spas and pools. The sport centre, Bärenbad, has an indoor pool, indoor games room and billiards. There are 25 km of winter hiking tracks and a number of cross-country ski circuits of various lengths and difficulties. There are also toboggan runs and snowshoeing rentals and routes. For those who love horse riding, take your chance and enjoy a horse-sleigh ride through the snowy woods!
