Finkenberg - Ski
Finkenberg is located in the centre of the Ski Zillertal 3000 ski area. This area runs from neighbouring Mayrhofen over to the year-round snowfield of the Hinterux glacier. Most of Zillertal 3000 is connected by a modern lift network, but a bus link is needed between Finkenberg and the Tux glacier lifts.
Beginners as well as experts are well-catered for. The resort also offers some good boarding and there is a Snow Park.
Finkenberg - Town
This Tyrolean village has a long ski and tourism tradition. Located within the Zillertal nature park, the village has just over 1500 year round inhabitants. The first person to climb the Mount Everest without an oxygen mask, Professor Peter Habeler, is one of them.
The church was built in 1721 and dedicated to Saint Leonhard. The Teufelsbrucke (Devil’s Bridge), built in 1876, is a rare example of old Tyrolian woodworking. It spans the deep ravine through which the Tuxer Bach river passes.
Activities
Do you want to do more than just ski? Finkenberg offers you numerous activities including swimming, ice-skating and curling. Are you in for a bit of après ski? No problem at all! Check out the après ski disco “Tux1” and the “Laternd’Pub”. If a bit of clubbing is what you need, just follow the road to Mayrhofen!
