Kaprun - Ski Resort Guide

Piste Map | Snow Report & Weather Forecast | Resort Map

Kaprun (Kitzsteinhorn and Maiskogel) along with Zell am Zee (Schmittenhöhe) make up the European Sportregion skiing domain. The different areas are inter-connected by free ski buses.

Kaprun - Ski

Skiing in Kaprun is great for beginner and intermediate skiers although there is less to please experts. The terrain is varied and reaches a height of 3029m on the Kitzsteinhorn-glacier so skiing is possible even during summer. If you are just starting out then head straight on the gondola to the Maiskogel area (1675m). There is also a fun park for the snowboarders.

Kaprun - Town

Kaprun is a traditional Austrian village, with some nice restaurants and different kinds of accommodation. It has a nice laid-back and relaxed atmosphere and the there is a great selection of entertainment and nightlife - including a nightclub and a large selection of bars.

Activities

If you want a break from skiing it is worth a visit to Zell am See, the nearest town. There you can find the Parish church of the 11th century with beautiful Romanesque architecture and the Folklore museum with traditional costumes. There are also really nice restaurants available and plenty of shops. Other activities include the bowling alley and the sports centre with a huge indoor swimming pool, a sauna and some hot tubs. For the more adventurous try hang gliding or paragliding
