Les Arcs - Ski Resort Guide

Webcam | Piste Map

Les Arcs has great scenary, fantastic off piste, good mountain restaurants and varied terrain but up till now it has been ignored by most people thanks to its unattractive, small and impratical accommodation! Recently investment has poured into the area though and there are quality residences, hotels and a brand new self-contained village - Les Arcs 1950! The new Vanoise Express links the domain up to La Plagne to make the massive Paradiski domain

Les Arcs - Ski

The Les Arcs ski domain consists of two areas either side of a ridge conected by a myriad of varied pistes and lifts. Two chairlifts and a long blue are all it takes to move from Arc 1950 at one extreme to Plan Peisey at the other extreme. Arc 2000 is overlooked by the impressive Aigulle Rouge with its long reds and black moghuls. (Check out the Webcam!) The truly adventurous (or just plain stupid!) may like to try and reach over 63mph on the flying kilometre. On the westerly side of the ridge are the treelined slopes above Arc 1600, Arc 1800, Vallandry and Plan Peisey. Les Arcs considers itself the original 'home of the snowboard' and is very proud of its state of the art board parks. Moving between areas however needs some planning to avoid a few flattish tracks - see the Piste Map

Les Arcs - Resort

Arc 2000 is not very attractive and is not one of the most party minded apres-ski resorts, however there are enough restaurants and bars to keep most happy for a week. A late night gondola to the classier 1950 runs until around midnight a couple of times a week. For a wilder night out with more variety of activities and better music head to Arc 1800!

Activities

Other activities on offer inculde paragliding, snow-mobiling, snow shoe walks, dog sledding, climbing and ice skating so even if the snow conditions aren't great you won't be bored.

Children

Ski school is available for children from 5 years and up, otherwise take a look at:
Les Marmottons in Arc 2000 for 3-6yr olds - 04 79 07 64 25
Pommes de Pins Nurserie Garderie in Arc 1800 for 1-8yr olds.
