Chamonix Les Houches-
Ski Resort Guide
Webcam | Piste Map | Snow Report & Weather Forecast | Ski Accommodation
Les Houches is situated at the foot of the Chamonix valley which is well renowned as one of the key ski resorts in France. Getting around the area isn't always easy and a car is useful here to make the most of the mountains. The scenery is well worth it though - the valley sits below Mont Blanc and the views are impressive!
Les Houches - Ski
Les Houches is a self-contained resort with the largest single ski area in the valley.
The pistes are much more gentle here, and the wooded slopes are good when the weather turns bad. From the top of Prarion there is an amazing panoramic view. The piste "La Verte" is used for a stage of the Ski World Cup - take a look at the piste map. Returning to the station can be difficult for beginner skiers however. You can buy a pass for just Les Houches or a pass which covers the rest of the Chamonix Valley aswell and its extreme off-piste iteneries!
Les Houches - Town
The resort is an attractive village with a friendly French atmosphere. Being lower down the valley from Chamonix it is easily accessible and also the best base for
families and those who wish to explore all the ski resorts in Chamonix and the Mont Blanc region. The town itself has an extensive choice of bars and restaurants as well as shops and night clubs. Other facilities include a swimming pool and two cinemas.
Les Houches - Activities
Aside from skiing there are plenty of other activities in the area to try including snow shoe trips, mountain biking, hang gliding, paragliding, heli-skiing, flying excursions and ice skating.
Les Houches - Children
Children from the age of 5 can be booked into ski school lessons. For younger children a creche is available in resort.
