Meribel Mottaret - Ski Resort Guide

Mottaret ski domain is the same as that for Meribel - it is just 5 km further up the valley. Set in the heart of the famous Three Valleys, Meribel Mottaret is very practival as you'll never be more than 100m away from a chair lift. A free bus service connects the two resorts by night once the lift system has stopped. Mottaret - Ski

The Meribel Valley alone covers around 150km with some of the prettiest views and plenty of chairlifts in the sun! Beginners are better catered for here in Mottaret than Meribel, and situated higher up at 1750m Mottaret is also more snow-sure! Intermediates and experts can choose between the moghuls, powder, vertical drops and snow parks. The more challenging terrain is at Mont de la Chambre at the head of the valley - see the piste map.

Mottaret - Resort

Mottaret is a lot calmer than Meribel with the emphasis on socialising in bars and restaurants. If you are after more nightlife then head across to Meribel where some of the best parties start in the Rond Point at around 4pm and continue until dinnertime! Later on the sample the many bars including the famous Dick's Tea Bar!

Mottaret - Activities

There are plenty of activities in Meribel and Mottaret if you need a break from skiing. Try dog sledding, ice driving, indoor climbing, walking, paragliding and more.

Mottaret - Children

Children from 5 years upwards can take ski lessons for half or whole days with the Ski School. There is a creche for children from 18 months - 3 years in the Olympic Centre in Meribel Village - 0033 (0)4 79 08 60 31. Otherwise 3-5 year olds can join the Pt'ts Loups in Mottaret itself - 0033 (0)4 79 08 54 45. Both are open 9am - 5pm.
