Val d'Isere will push you to your limits both day and night. It's a long way from anywhere but it is worth the trip and usually guarentees regular good snow from November to May! The village centre is full of Savoyard charm but the rest of the village is dominated by more recent developments. The whole ski resort is jam packed with places to eat, drink, shop and party with a very British attitude. It is linked to the higher Tignes and together they form the Espace Killy ski domain.

Val d'Isere - Ski

From Val D'Isere ski the 300km of pistes that make up Espace Killy. There are two glaciers: 'Le Fornet' and the 'Grand Motte' plus World Cup runs, breathtaking off-piste and moghuls. These are all connected by one of the fastest and most efficient lift systems in the world! Take a look at the piste map. Beginners should progress from the nursery slopes to the Solaise area, but overall there is little choice for the timid - everybody else will be in mountain paradise though!

Val d'Isere - Resort

There are plenty of other distractions in Val d'Isere: trendy shops, cinemas with films in English, ice skating, fitness centres and swimming pools. The parties and happy hours start as soon as the lifts stop and names like Dicks, G Jays and Banana's will have many wondering where all their cash has gone! Food ranges from cooked English, to Michelin rated French cuisine, Asian and Japanese delights and 3am kebabs!

Activities

For the more adventurous have a go at ice driving, paragliding or ice climbing. Other activities include snow shoe walks and husky sleighs.

Ski school is available for all ages and levels from 5 years and up. For children aged 2 and up there is the Petit Poucet: telephone 04 79 06 13 97, open 9:00-17:30, otherwise the tourist office arranges babysitting.
