If you want to spice up your holiday in the mountains and feel like taking a break from skiing then why not try one of the following activities. From enjoying the view from the back of a sled during a husky dog ride or admiring the scenery from the top of a horse, all the activities combine snow and fun together to provide unforgettable experiences.

With all these activities the age restrictions vary depending on the resort. All necessary information is given when booking an activity.

Husky Rides

This is a fantastic opportunity to be taken on a tour of beautiful mountain surroundings in a form of transport you only find in the mountains. As a passenger you can sit back in the sled and take in all the breathtaking scenery as you are whisked through the snow by a pack of beautiful husky dogs.

If you want a more challenging experience then you can learn to control the husky dogs yourself which is hard word but very rewarding. You are given all the instructions needed by a qualified husky dog handler.

Normally you have to be 15+ years to lead the dogs on your own but younger children can enjoy the ride in the sled.

Quads and Buggies

If you want an exhilarating ride through the snow then why not rent a quad bike and have a race round a track. This is for those people who enjoy speed and having the freedom to drive their own machine! The quads are very simple to use which means it is an easily accessible activity that will provide lots of entertainment.

The fun can be shared if you rent a buggy which has two seats although the age restriction is usually higher for a buggy.

Horse Riding

Experience an equestrian adventure in the snow with a horse ride through the mountains. For anyone who loves horses or wants to enjoy their natural surroundings without using man-made means then this is the activity for you.

Normally you are placed in a group with people who are a similar level which will optimise how much you get out of the whole experience. In some resorts there is also the possibility of taking a trek during the evening.

Ski Joering

If you want to try something new then why not have a go at the Scandinavian sport of ski joering. It is the equivalent of water skiing but on the snow or ice and being pulled by horses instead of a boat! If you love to spend your time on skis then try something new with them and let a horse take you for an exciting ride. As long as you feel comfortable on skis then ski joering is the perfect activity for you.
